BBFC 3-0 Icklesham Casuals
“A good performance in very tricky conditions – full of patience & maturity. The quest for promotion continues…”
Apart from one or two minor scares, we dominated the game from start to finish. The back four of Ben McNeillChris WakefordRichard Tich Chambers & Lee Costen were comanding throughout & well worthy of a fantastic clean sheet. GK Ray Pennels handled everything with care, though wasn’t tested with a shot where he had to work hard to save it. Our midfield engine of Matt Ward, skipper Jamie Crouch & Aaron Davies won their battles, & the starting front three of Kyle MacleodPaul Allen & Elliot Walleralways looked lively & helped create a number of chances in the first half. We could have been more clinical…but we kept our patience & went 1-0 ahed in the 26th minute. Paul Allen worked hard with skill to close down their left back, win the ball, drive to the coirner & provide a great low cross for Elliot Waller to slide in Cruyff-like to side-foot the ball home through his legs – what a sweet skillful goal.
the second half folowed the same pattern & we went 2-0 ahed on 62 minutes when Adam Thompsett‘s quick reaction follwed up a Jamie Crouch free-kick to fire home from close range. On 89 mins, it was 3-0. Along with Ashley HollowayGeorge Harris had given us some fresh legs. George Harrisscored with a clinical finish following good work by Aaron Davies & Adam Thompsett following a controversial lino decision.
Special mentions to Ben McNeill & Aaron Davies who played so well in unfamiliar positions, all so we could keep our successful 4-3-3 formation. We are the 4th highest scorers in ESFL with the 4th highest goal difference. Third place is not secure because of the 3 teams with games in hand who could catch us. So in our 3 league games left…all we can do is keep enjoying, keep together & keep notching up those points.
